Outsiders thrash Falcons to secure final Major spot at Europe RMRs

After two unsuccessful attempts, Outsiders made the third count to advance to IEM Rio.

Outsiders have clinched the final IEM Rio Major spot on offer in the European Regional Major Ranking event following a 2-0 thrashing of Falcons in the final round of the B group.

With a 3-2 record overall, the Russian-majority side will start their Major campaign in the Challengers Stage.

The team around Dzhami "⁠Jame⁠" Ali went 2-0 to start the Swiss stage but were unable to lock in the Major spot in their first two chances, faltering in difficult matchups against Natus Vincere in the third round and to OG in a close three-map affair in the fourth round.

In the fifth against Nathan "⁠NBK-⁠" Schmitt's team, it was a straightforward affair as Outsiders secured a 16-7 win on the opening Dust2, recovering from a 1-4 start with a powerful response, and 16-5 on Inferno in just as a one-sided affair.

"Every time when Outsiders or VP were playing RMRs or Majors, they never won 3-0 or 3-1, it was always hard games from 1-2 or 2-0," David "⁠n0rb3r7⁠" Danielyan said to HLTV.org in a post-match comment. "We were confident that if we lose to OG, it's fine, we will win the next game."
